California Ag Leadership Program Class 48 applications available

CALP is considered one of the premier leadership development experiences in the U.S.

Applications are being accepted for Class 48 of the California Agricultural Leadership Program (CALP).

Applicants can be mid-career growers, farmers, ranchers, and agricultural professionals or individuals working in allied businesses and organizations who are emerging leaders in agriculture.

CALP is operated by the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation (CALF).

CALP is considered one of the premier leadership development experiences in the U.S. More than 1,300 men and women former program participants are now influential leaders and active volunteers in agriculture, communities, government, business, and other areas.

The 17-month program includes about 56 days of formal program activities. The four partner universities - Cal Poly Pomona, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Fresno State, and UC Davis - deliver comprehensive, diverse, and high-impact curriculum designed to improve leadership skills.

In addition to the monthly seminars, fellows participate in national and international travel seminars and receive individualized leadership development coaching.

CALF invests about $55,000 per fellow to participate in CALP. Costs are underwritten by individual and industry donations.

Candidates should talk with CALP agricultural leadership alumni about the program and attend a regional recruitment event. Detailed program information and the phase one application are available online at www.agleaders.org.

Phase one of the two-part application process is due May 1. However, individuals are encouraged to complete and submit it earlier.
