California dairy groups seek emergency hike in milk prices

Groups want 35 cent raise in overbase price across all classes of milk

California dairy producers filed an emergency petition, asking the state to raise milk prices across the five classifications in the state.

Western United Dairymen and the California Dairy Campaign filed the emergency petition with the California Department of Food and Agriculture, seeking a 35 cent per hundredweight increase in the overbase price.

CDFA Secretary Karen Ross has until Feb. 2 to make her decision.
