The major agricultural chemical manufacturing companies have been working to reduce their carbon footprint and become more sustainable. DuPont, for example, has saved more than $6 billion in energy costs in the last decade. DuPont CEO Ellen Kullman told reporters attending the World Food Prize Symposium in Des Moines that science has to play a role in increasing ag productivity and that industry needs to do more to educate consumers about the role of science.
