2013 California grape crush a 4.7 million-ton record crop

2013 California grape crush is an all-time record 4,699,416 tons, up 7 percent from 4,387,434 tons the previous year. Red wine varieties accounted for more than half of the crushed grapes - 2,416,378 tons.  Red wine grape prices averaged $851.12, down 4 percent.   

 

Its official – the 2013 California grape crush totaled a record-setting 4,699,416 tons, up 7 percent from the previous high (2012) of 4,387,434 tons, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in Sacramento.

Red wine varieties accounted for more than half of all crushed grapes - 2,416,378 tons, 5 percent higher than 2012. 

The 2013 white wine variety crush was 1,828,513 tons, up 6 percent from 2012.
