Larry Godfrey, UC entomologist, succumbs to cancer

Dr. Godfrey worked tirelessly on applied insect ecology and the advancement of IPM strategies

Dr. Larry Godfrey, 60, University of California Cooperative Extension entomologist and 26-year veteran of the Department of Entomology and Nematology, succumbed to cancer on April 18.

During his storied career, Dr. Godfrey worked tirelessly on applied insect ecology and the advancement of integrated pest management (IPM) strategies. He worked to harness IPM as a tool toward sustainability in California agriculture.

His work focused largely on IPM strategies in cotton, rice, vegetables, alfalfa, and other crops.

Funeral services for Dr. Godfrey will be held April 29 in Salem, Ind.
