Robert A. Johnson of R. J. Sales in Madera was elected chairman of the California Table Grape Commission at the commission's recent board meeting held in Bakersfield.
“Bob has served on the board for many years and has a great understanding of this industrybrings a clear knowledge of the industry and proven leadership to the position,” said Kathleen Nave, president of the California Table Grape Commission.
Nave noted that the harvest is beginning will begin in the Coachella Valley. sometime in mid-May. “The advertising schedule is in place We have a new advertising campaign that will be running in key markets nationwide, the marketing team the commission's field staff has been calling retailers across the country and our promotional calendar is ready. We're looking forward to a good reat year.”
Along with the chairman and vice chairman, the following California fresh grape farmers were appointed to head commission board committees: Domenick Bianco of Anthony Vineyards, Gary Gipson of Gipson Farms in Dinuba, John Giumarra, Jr. of Giumarra Vineyards in Bakersfield, Davids Marrguleas of Sun World International in Coachella and Robert D. McCloskey of McCloskey Bros. in Terra Bella.
