California’s Roy Motter elected U.S. Wheat chairman

Roy Motter, a Brawley, Calif. wheat grower, will become chairman of U.S. Wheat Associates in June 2014.

The U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) Board of Directors Feb. 1 elected Roy Motter of Brawley, Calif., as its next chairman.

Motter, currently USW’s vice-president, will assume the chairman’s post in June.

Motter is a managing partner of Spruce Farms, LLC, a diverse operation in California’s Imperial Valley which includes desert durum wheat, lettuce, cabbage, onions, sugar beets, sugar cane, alfalfa seed and hay, Sudangrass, melons, and tomatoes.

Motter has served on the California Wheat Commission since 1998.
