USDA’s Risk Management Agency has contracted with Agralytica of Alexandria, Va. to evaluate the quarantine endorsement for avocados and citrus, and the ARH citrus program for Navel oranges.
The purpose of these evaluations is to determine whether the pilot programs should be converted into permanent programs and expanded to other areas, modified and continued as pilots, or terminated.
In November, Agralytica staff will hold listening sessions with growers and insurance staff to get feedback on how these programs have worked over the last three years and how they can be improved.
Quarantine Endorsement: Two listening sessions on the quarantine pilot will be held in Southern California, followed by sessions in Tulare County and in Fresno County. Growers and crop insurance staff are invited to the same session.
ARH Citrus: Listening sessions for ARH Citrus will be held in Tulare County and in Fresno County. In each location, there will be a morning session for growers, and an afternoon session for insurance company staff, agents, adjusters, lenders, and other interested parties.
