California almond growers will vote Feb. 18 through March 7 on whether to continue or cancel the federal marketing order on almonds.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture would consider terminating the marketing order if fewer than two-thirds of the growers voting in the referendum, or growers representing less than two-thirds of the volume of almonds, vote in favor of the order.
USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service will mail ballots and voting instructions to all growers of record who produced almonds in California from Aug. 1, 2012 to July 31, 2013.
Eligible growers who do not receive a ballot should contact Maria Stobbe of USDA at (559) 487-5901 or [email protected] .
