Tax breaks in law signed by Davis

Governor Gray Davis has signed a $100 billion budget for the state of California that contains significant tax breaks for agriculture.

They include elimination of state sales tax on farm machinery, propane for rural residences and agriculture and diesel used in farming activities and food processing. The budget also included $5 million per year for a “Buy California” promotional program for golden state agricultural products.
