New products (varieties, packaging, niche markets)
Calendar of upcoming events/meetings.
UC and UA Farm Advisor/County Agents' input on current problems and solutions.
Processing tomato crop section, crop conditions and markets/prices.
Information from researchers and other important updates.
“DuPont is pleased to partner with Western Farm Press editors and publishers to bring timely information to our PCA audience through Vnews,” says Lars Swanson, DuPont product manager.
“For years, Western Farm Press' editorial staff has been serving the information needs of California and Arizona agriculture and the PCAs who work in the most diverse and lucrative agricultural market in the world. This E-newsletter is an extension of that commitment to provide the latest information available in a timely manner.
“PCAs are constantly challenged to keep up with the rapid pace of agricultural advancements to deliver the best solution to their customers,” Swanson says. “They spend almost three-fourths of their time in their vehicles, so we aim to bring the information directly to them, in a way that is easily-accessible on their schedule.”
Farm Press Publisher Greg Frey says, “Western Farm Press is committed to providing the most timely, reliable information about production agriculture in the Far West, and Vnews is an extension of that commitment.
“We have been very pleased at the response from Vnews, just as we have to the accredited continuing education courses we have been offering online for the past two years.”
DuPont sponsors one of the seven online courses accredited by either the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) and/or the Arizona Department of Agriculture (ADA). About 600 DPR and ADA licensees have completed the combo course covering lepidopterous pest management and pesticide safety.
More than 5,000 CEUs available on the Western Farm Press Web site, www.westernfarmpress.com, and more recently also on the California Association of Control Advisers (CAPCA) Web site, www.capca.com, have been completed over the past two years.
“Four issues of Vnews have e-mailed and the open rate has been almost 30 percent for each issue,” says Frey. “That is very gratifying since the industry standard for a good opening rate is approximately 10 percent.”
Western Farm Press' editorial staff generates the information for Vnews.
