2008 World Ag Expo at a glance

Where: International Agri-Center, Tulare, Calif.; 45 miles south of Fresno and 60 miles north of Bakersfield, just off Highway 99.

When: Feb. 12, 13, 14; always the second Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of February.

New in 2008: Dairy Technology Center and Top Five New Dairy Products recognized; additional 100,000 square feet of exhibit space; Attendee Electronic Registration; gates open at 8 a.m. every day.

Why go: More than 1,700 exhibitors displaying the latest in farm equipment, chemicals, communications, and technology on 2.6 million square feet of exhibit space. Free seminars on a variety of topics important to dairy producers, farmers, ranchers, dairy producers and agribusiness professionals. Cooking demonstrations by chefs from California's top restaurants in the World Ag Women Pavilion. Free parking and a Park and Ride shuttle service for off-site parking.

Directions by car: The Expo site is located just off Highway 99 in Tulare, midway between Fresno and Bakersfield. Traveling north on Highway 99, exit Avenue 184 or Avenue 200, and follow the signs. Traveling south on Highway 99, exit at Paige Avenue or Avenue 200, and follow the signs. Those traveling from the Porterville and Visalia areas may use the new entrance off Turner Drive on the east side of the Expo grounds.

Park & Ride shuttle service: Free parking is available on the Expo grounds, but attendees are encouraged to utilize the free, off-site parking services. Fast shuttle service directly to the grounds is available at:

  • Preferred Outlets at Tulare, at the Prosperity Avenue exit off Highway 99 in Tulare.

  • Tulare County Fairgrounds on K Street in Tulare.

  • Mid-Valley Cotton Gin on J Street and Cartmill in Tulare.

  • Tulare's Mefford Field, at the Avenue 200 exit off Highway 99.

  • Visalia Mall at Walnut Avenue and Mooney Boulevard.

Shuttles operate from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. A free shuttle bus will travel from each of these locations to the International Agri-Center frequently within the hour and the Visalia Mall location will depart every 30 minutes; dropping attendees off at Gate 2 and Gate 12 on the east and west end of the showgrounds.

When attendees arrive at the show they will complete the quick registration process at the entrance gates on computer kiosks. However, pre-registering online will eliminate registration waiting at the gate.

RV parking with no hookups or dump station is available on the Expo grounds at $10 per night.

Dress casually and be prepared for rain. Check weather forecast beforehand.

Information booths are located along the East and South Greenbelts and near Gate 16. Volunteers, on hand, will assist you in searching the database and locating company exhibits.
