Mark Watte: Growing cotton in California's southern San Joaquin Valley

Cotton runs deep in the veins of the Watte family of Tulare, Calif. as the family planted the first seed 56 years ago (1959). In 2014, the family grew about 1,200 acres of Pima and Upland-type cottons.

Growing quality cotton in a sustainable manner is job one for the Watte family.

Mark Watte received the 2015 Western Farm Press High Cotton Award for his family during the 2015 Beltwide Cotton Conferences in San Antonio, Texas this January.
