Management of soil, water, fertility, and pest management key focus at annual agronomy meeting

The 38th annual Plant and Soil Conference will be held on Feb. 3 & 4, 2009 at the Piccadilly Inn University in Fresno, Calif. Sponsored by the California Chapter of the American Society of Agronomy and the California Certified Crop Advisors, the conference focuses on current agronomic topics that are of importance to growers, consultants, suppliers, educators and governmental organizations.

The theme of this year’s general session is “Biotechnology in California Agriculture” with speakers from government, industry and research.

The conference includes technical sessions on a wide range of topics including:

Nutrient Management

Water Management – Drought Strategies and Pesticides

Pest Management

Dairy Nutrient Management

Nitrogen Management

Commodity Boards

A poster session including submissions from students and professionals will be featured during a wine and cheese tasting on the first conference day. Continuing education credit will be available for pest control advisors and certified crop advisors.
