North Coast pear meeting readied

Growers and others interested in the North Coast pear industry are invited to attend the 2001 North Coast Pear Research Meeting to be held Tuesday, Feb. 13 at the Clear Lake Grange, 1510 Big Valley Road in Finley.

The meeting is sponsored by University of California Cooperative Extension, California Pear Advisory Board (CPAB) and the Pest Management Research Fund. Registration will begin at 7:45 a.m. with the program running from 8:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Refreshments and lunch will be sponsored by CPAB and will be provided free of charge to all those who register by Feb. 7.

This year the annual research meeting will feature several panels focused on major issues of both short and long-term concern to the local pear industry. Sessions will cover marketing and promotion, orchard systems, disease management and insect management.
