The stakes are very incredibly high for the U.S. produce industry and for consumers of fruits and vegetables. On one hand, food safety efforts are the cornerstone to produce a safe food supply for consumers while ensuring public confidence in the safety of their food supply. On the other hand, it is important to apply food safety practices only where truly needed in the food-to-fork process for fruits and vegetables.
